Masha+Colin

This lovely little reception party for Masha and Colin took place in St. Louis, Missouri!  This was my first trip out there, and I have to say, it was a super lovely place!  Colin was born and raised there, and Masha's family came in from far and wide, as much of her family are still in Russia or Spain!  This was quite a meeting of the worlds, which funny enough, I learned that the 1904 world fair took place in St. Louis!  How apropos!  Since they have family in so many places, Colin's parents wanted to host  a party for the newly weds in their hometown, as this couple made sure to have several parties from coast to coast, and finished up at a downtown loft in St. Louis with old and new friends!
Cheers and congrats!

The Wythe Hotel and finding your people!

If you have not had to chance to visit the Wythe Hotel yet, do yourself a favor, and check it out! The lovely ladies of Entwined are Thea from Hushed Commotion and Patricia of 1440NYC, who held this super amazing networking event there this month, and as you can see, we had too much fun! When they asked me to photograph the evenings festivities, naturally my answer was, yes, of course!  The only catch being that when I looked at the rsvp list, I couldn't believe that a large number of guests would be some of New York's finest wedding photographers.  I couldn't believe how nervous I got!  So weird, I rarely get that kind of nervous anymore, but when it's you photographing a room full of photographers, you really have to bring your A game!  Honestly, I love a challenge, and the opportunity to face my fears!  I really think that as an artist, and a business owner, you really have to push yourself all the time, to be better, stronger, and ever evolving.  I am definitely at a place where I am pushing myself to a different place then I have ever been, so a shout out to all the lovely people that were in attendance that night.  I love being a part of an amazing community of kick ass people that inspire me to push myself and be better every day.  If you want anything in this life, put yourself in a room full of amazing people, and strive to be the best every day!  Find your people!

Cheers!

Carly+Andrew

So, when someone says, lets do an engagement shoot at the bodega called Mexico 2000, what do you say??  Um, Yeahhhh!  That is so unique, that I couldn't pass it up.  When Carly and Andrew came to me about working together, we met for a drink and I knew this would be fun!  They are both creative people, who are up for anything, which is how they knew they were meant for each other.  Essentially, on their second date, they had one of those, lets just get some tacos at the bodega and explore our neighborhood dates.  This shoot is a recreation of that day, wherein they met for a quick bite, and walked around until they ended up at a small park in South Williamsburg. These are two people who know how to have a good time in any situation, because they are both creative's with a zest for life!  I couldn't be happier with how this turned out, because when I was first thinking about how to shoot this, I knew that there would be endless possibilities for color backdrops, and fun details.  It also feels like we really are on a date with them, but in a John Hughes movie about 2 people falling in love in New York.  I mean what is more New York than a Bodega!?  The idea of combining the elements of high brow and low brow aesthetics is always interesting, and that's how we chose what they were going to wear, as a contrast to the backdrop of this colorful bodega.  Congrats to these two love birds, and wishing you all the best!
